This is the whistle chosen by "Survivorman" Les Stroud, and I can see why. My hearing became muffled after giving it a good hard test indoors. If you are stuck in the middle of the ocean, this whistle will do the job. Fox40 claims it has an approximate range of 1 mile. You might be able to find a whistle with a pitch that carries over a greater distance, but the Sharx does a fantastic job while also being very compact.
