Colonel James "Nick" Rowe was a Special Forces Officer. He was a North Viatnamese POW for five years, before escaping and making his way back to US forces on his own. He founded and taught the US Special Forces Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) Program. He was gunned down while on assignment in the Philippines by guerilla insurgents. Nick Rowe 8 February 1938 - 21 April 1989.

Anyone venturing into an uninhabited and potentially hostile area should carry a survival pack. The contents of the pack should be dictated by the type of terrain you are entering, and should provide the means to protect life in the event of a survival situation occurring. It's good to build your own survival kit. Commercial kits compromise the quality of the components to lower the overall price.

This manual is dedicated to the soldier — the key to success on the battlefield. Wars are not won by machines and weapons but by the soldiers who use them. Even the best equipped army cannot win without motivated and well-trained soldiers.

This is the soldier’s field manual. It tells the soldier how to perform the combat skills needed to survive on the battlefield. These are basic skills that must be learned by soldiers in all military occupational specialties (MOS).

FM 3-5 integrates the nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) fundamentals published in FM 3-100 and implements Standardized North Atlantic Treaty Organization Agreement (STANAG) 2426.

The extent and timing of decon depends on the tactical situation, the mission, the area of contamination, and the decon resources available. Survivability and reducing the effect of any chemical threat are the ultimate goals of decon. This manual provides detailed guidance on conducting decon operations performed by chemical and nonchemical personnel. Individual soldiers and leaders must be familiar with the basic procedures and concepts in this manual.

Image: Engineer Insignia Demolitions Calculator
This is a program allows you to select what type of demolitions charge you would like to place (i.e. timber charge, steel cutting, cratering, breaching) and will automatically calculate the required explosives and other important elements.

You will need a Texas Instruments calculator (TI-89 or later model). You will also need a valid AKO email address. If you do not know what an AKO email address is, then don't plan on getting this software.

TI-89s have been tested by Texas Instruments to function between 0 - 45°C (this test did not include accuracy tests). Accuracy testing was only done at typical room temperature (25°C). You can also store the TI-89 at temperatures between -40 - 70°C. The LCD freezes around 0°C but returns to normal when the calculator returns to room temperature. At 70°C, no part of the TI-89 will melt.

It is extremely important that soldiers do not rely on this software while learning demolition techniques, since the TI-89 has limited operating temperature range. A calculator is not reliable in a wartime environment, therefore basic demolition skills should be mastered without the use of a calculator.

Distribution Restrictions: Distribution authorized to US Government agencies only to protect technical or operational information from automatic dissemination under the International Exchange Program or by other means. This protection applies to publications required solely for official use and to those containing valuable technical or operational information. This determination was made on 22 October 1997. Other request for this information will be referred to Commandant, US Army Engineer School, ATTN: ATSE-TD-D, Fort Leonard Wood, MO 65473-8929.

The featured file is a self-extracting zip file of all common military forms. If you don't want to download this large Form Library, you can download individual forms from the Army Publishing Directorate (APD).

FormFlow Filler is legacy software software that is still used by the DOD. Adobe, the publishers of FormFlow, have publicly announced that they will no longer be updating this software or answering customer service questions about it. Patches and updates are available from Adobe. As of November 2004, the Army has selected the PureEdge Viewer as a replacement for FormFlow Filler. Silanis ApproveIt software will be used in conjunction with PureEdge Viewer to create a digital signature. Around January 2006, APD plans to sever all technical support for FormFlow.

You can download FormFlow and PureEdge Viewer from the Army Small Computer Program (ASCP), if you have a valid AKO email address. Click on "No Cost Software" at the top of the screen, then click on "Adobe Capture Software" or "PureEdge Viewer" on the sidebar.
